Use a constant subtitle delay when dialogue is consistently early or late.

Check the offset first

If every line is early or late by roughly the same amount, the problem is a constant offset. In VLC, use the subtitle delay controls while watching a clear dialogue cue, then enter the measured seconds here and download a corrected SRT file.

Positive values delay subtitles. Negative values bring them earlier. Test the result against several scenes before replacing your original file.

Why the mismatch grows

A 23.976 FPS source and a 25 FPS release run at different rates. A subtitle line may match near the opening but move progressively away from dialogue later in the video. A single delay cannot correct that changing error.

Use the PAL preset for the linear timing relationship, then verify the final scene and preserve the original subtitle track as a backup.
